You ask. We answer.

The seventeen questions Mark gets asked most often. Honest answers, no marketing. If yours isn't here, call him on 07377 942552.

Why do you use plastic filter housings?

Great question, and one Mark gets asked all the time.

The good news: every housing we use is specifically rated for potable water and has zero measurable nanoplastic ingress. We are able to source off-the-shelf housings for every technology in the four-stage chain, which keeps Watermark competitively priced without compromising on water quality.

If you'd prefer stainless steel housings, we offer them as an upgrade on every system for an additional £500. It's whats inside the housing that does the work.

What makes Watermark better than bottled?

Two things, in order: environmental impact, and quality.

Watermark systems aren't a result of commercial market-share decisions. They are the result of seventeen years of research and deep questioning into what is required to deliver unrivalled water quality in the UK — and they outperform supermarket bottled water on cost, on micro-plastic content, on carbon, and on the basic taste test.

How much does annual servicing cost?

Servicing is a single annual visit per system. 2027 service charges:

  • 2-part undersink — £125 swap-out
  • 4-part undersink — £160 swap-out
  • Whole House 3+1 — £199 filter change
  • Whole House 25 L/PM — £249 filter change
  • Grand Designs — £399 filter change

One visit, twelve months of clean water, no further thinking required.

Why TAC or Quasai conditioning, rather than salt-based softeners?

Watermark conditions hardness without removing minerals from the water. TAC (Template Assisted Crystallisation) and Quasai approaches transform scale-forming minerals into a non-binding crystalline form, which protects pipes and appliances without making the water briny, salty or biologically less useful. This matters: minerals in your water are part of how it hydrates your cells.

What about PFAS, the “forever chemicals”?

Stage three of every Watermark four-stage system includes media specifically targeted at PFAS removal. PFAS protection is not an optional add-on — it is part of the standard build, because UK mains water increasingly needs it.

How long does an installation take?

An undersink system typically takes two to three hours on site. A whole-house install is generally completed inside a working day. Mark installs the systems himself wherever possible, with Anthony covering Essex and the South-East.

Do I need to be on mains, or do you fit to wells and boreholes?

Both. The Whole House 3+1 and Whole House 25 L/PM are designed for mains-supplied homes. For boreholes, harvested rainwater and rural wells, the Grand Designs estate system is the right starting point: it accommodates more aggressive source-water profiles and integrates UV polishing where required.

Can I move the system if I move house?

Yes. Watermark systems are modular and can be uninstalled, transported and re-fitted at a new property. We charge for the visit and any consumables, but the system itself comes with you.

What's the warranty?

Lifetime warranty on the housings. Filters are consumable and rated twelve months in normal use; servicing replaces them annually.

How quickly can you install?

Lead times vary with the season, but most domestic installs are scheduled within four weeks of the postcode survey. Festival hire is booked May to September; please book early.
